reclining under Sinawav’s skirt
they sleep with wide eyes
glimpsing through woven threads
the curious face of a night song
gazing back in sly invitation
gamboling to entertain
basking in the glow of it’s own light
the luthier’s living ship weaves paths
through broken streams
and sings shifting shadows
across their darkened faces
transforming to sift dreams
a baleen expression of indifference
caresses their minds as it
rolls larboard to face them again
unfurling tentacled arms
it returns to the stream
released from mesmeric gaze
somnolent figures stroll
from dream
to dream
as a benevolent eye
watches them go
